The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a brutal loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, but at least some of that pain was eased by positive injury news on Monday. For starters, the Eagles learned that Lane Johnson's ankle injury isn't too serious and shouldn't cause the Pro Bowl tackle to miss much time, if any.

Philadelphia also got a big update on star tight end Dallas Goedert as well.

Dallas Goedert Injury Update

Eagles fans may have noticed that Goedert was not on the field for Philadelphia's final offensive drive of the game on Sunday. That's because he was in the blue medical tent instead, which usually isn't a good sign.

Fortunately, however, Goedert's injury wasn't serious. According to Eagles reporter Jeff McLane, Goedert is "fine" and merely "dinged his elbow."

That's a major relief for Philly fans, as losing Goedert would be a significant blow to the offense. After a slow start to the season, the veteran tight end has started to pick it up over the last few weeks. In his last 2 games combined, he's caught 13-of-17 targets for 159 yards and a touchdown, bringing his season totals up to 26 receptions on 36 targets for 247 yards.

While A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are still the Eagles' top weapons downfield, Goedert continues to operate as a reliable short and medium-range option for Jalen Hurts, not to mention a chain-mover. Goedert has already picked up 14 first downs this season and is a reliable option in the red zone as well.

Fortunately, Goedert will be on hand for Philadelphia's huge Sunday Night Football showdown this week against the Miami Dolphins. The Eagles are going to need all hands on deck if they want to beat the Dolphins, who are also 5-1, so having Goedert available for that game could be a difference-maker.
