The Philadelphia Eagles are still reeling from their stunning 20-14 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday. With a huge home matchup coming up against the Miami Dolphins this weekend, however, they'll need to recover quickly if they want to avoid a second straight defeat.

That goes for injured offensive tackle Lane Johnson, who was injured during Sunday's loss to the Jets. With his status for Week 7 uncertain, he received a big injury update on Monday.

Lane Johnson Injury Update

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, an MRI revealed that Johnson suffered a lateral ankle sprain during Sunday's game. This is basically the best-case scenario, as this type of sprain may not cost him any missed time. If he is forced to sit out, it won't be for long.

This is a huge relief for Philadelphia, as Johnson is one of the team's most important players. The 33-year-old tackle is regarded as one of the best offensive linemen in the league. As an anchor on the Eagles' O-line, he's responsible for helping protect Jalen Hurts and opening up holes for D'Andre Swift and co. in the run game.

Now in his 11th season, Johnson has spent his entire career with Philly. He was the fourth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft and has more than lived up to the hype, earning four Pro Bowl appearances, two All-Pro nods and a Super Bowl ring throughout his distinguished career.

Johnson is known for his toughness and will likely do everything he can to play this week against the Dolphins. Even if he ends up sitting, however, it's encouraging that his absence should be short-lived and that he's not going to leave a giant hole on the O-line that needs to be filled.

Eagles fans will want to keep an eye on Johnson's status throughout the week to monitor his recovery and see if he's able to practice. But for now, at least, Philadelphia appears to have dodged a major bullet and the worst-case scenario.
