Eagles May Have Another Key Injury to Worry About After Week 6 Loss

Eagles' injury list grows following their Week 6 matchup, testing team depth. Backups are stepping up, but concerns for the team's health, specially Dallas Goedert's, prevail.

The war of attrition that played out in the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 6 matchup certainly didn't help the team avoid an upset at the hands of the New York Jets. Philadelphia saw several important players go down on Sunday, testing this team's depth as even more backups took the field.

While fans are worried about Lane Johnson, Reed Blankenship and Bradley Roby, among others, it turns out there's another playmaker who may be hurting.

Jimmy Kempski of the Philly Voice noted Monday morning that backup tight end Grant Calcaterra was on the field for the Eagles' final four plays against the Jets. Meanwhile, starter Dallas Goedert didn't get to suit up for the last drive despite Philadelphia needing all of its stud pass-catchers to mount a comeback.

This is especially concerning. It would take something potentially serious to make the Eagles sit one of their top targets on the final drive of a game within reach. We sometimes see players attempt to gut things out in this type of situation, even if they're less than 100%, given the stakes.

The fact Goedert couldn't get on the field prompts some major worries, especially since no one completely knows what happened. Commenters under Kempski's tweet all had different theories; one person said they saw the TE limping early in the game and it could be an ankle, while another believed the tight end was "moving his right arm like he hurt his elbow."

The last thing this squad needs right now is another starter sidelined after already losing the likes of Avonte Maddox, Cam Jurgens and Justin Evans to IR, while Darius Slay and Jalen Carter missed Week 6 as well.

Hopefully Monday's updates from head coach Nick Sirianni bring some good news on the health front as this team looks to bounce back.
