Wednesday brought some great news on the injury front for the Philadelphia Eagles. Injured tight end Dallas Goedert (forearm) and linebacker Zach Cunningham (hamstring) are expected to be back in action this week and ready to play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

This news is greatly welcomed by the Eagles, as this game could have playoff implications. Goedert went down in the first game against the Cowboys and has missed two games. Cunningham missed last week's game when Philly fell to the San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles: Goedert and Cunningham are close to returns

The Birds made a move to improve the depth of the linebacking core by adding recently release Shaquille Leonard to the roster this week. He and Cunningham will both be part of the gameplan on Sunday, barring any setbacks.

As for Goedert, even though options are out there to help deepen the staff at tight end, it seems like the Eagles are going to be able to let it ride out, at least through Sunday.

This week has huge stakes for the Eagles, who continue are hanging onto the lead in the division and clinging onto the one seed in the NFC. The Eagles could clinch their spot in the playoffs by the end of the game.

A loss, meanwhile, could flip the script in favor of the Cowboys and subsequently the Niners. It will be a fight to the finish for these three powerhouses, with others like the Lions still lurking for a chance.
