4. Rashaad Penny

Rashaad Penny was officially designated as inactive due to illness in Week 5, and he was back at practice as a full participant on Wednesday.

But don't go assuming that being healthy means he'll be active.

I projected him as an inactive last week even before knowing about the illness, and I don't think his health changes anything in Week 6.

Week 4 was the first time Boston Scott and Kenny Gainwell were both healthy at the same time since Week 1, and it was no coincidence that Penny returned to being inactive for the first time since Week 1.

There's not room for four running backs on the Eagles' game day roster.

D'Andre Swift clearly has the top spot locked up. Gainwell isn't far behind, either, having still played at least 38% of the offensive snaps in each of his three games since returning to the lineup.

We've not seen any indications that Gainwell is anything but the RB2 on the depth chart, and Penny has a long way to go to compete with Gainwell there.

The other spot is less clear-cut, because Boston Scott is both the RB3 and a key special teams contributor. Penny may well be ahead of Scott as a running back, but even if he was, that probably wouldn't be enough to take the final spot on the active roster.

Scott has been a special teams ace for years in Philly, and those contributions aren't something Penny was really ever able to match when given opportunities.
