3 Former Eagles Who Failed Miserably With Their New Teams in Week 1
By Randy Gurzi
Week 1 proved to be a solid one for the Philadelphia Eagles. They were part of the first game to take place in Brazil and walked away with a narrow win over the Green Bay Packers.
One week doesn't make a season but this could still be a significant win. Not only did they overcome some shaky play, especially when it came to ball protection, but they secured a win over another team expected to be in the NFC playoffs. These head-to-head victories could be massive when tiebreakers are needed for seeding at the end of the year.
In securing the win, the Eagles leaned heavily on Saquon Barkley who was added in the offseason via free agency. The former divisional rival proved to be a difference-maker for his new club. The same can't be said for these three former Eagles who didn't live up to expectations with their new teams.
3. Nicholas Morrow, Linebacker, Buffalo Bills
Linebacker was a sore spot for Phildelphia in 2023, so they made several changes. That included signing Devin White, Zack Baun, and Oren Burks. They also selected Jeremiah Trotter, Jr. in the NFL Draft.
Baun was a menace on Friday with 15 tackles, two sacks, and two quarterback hits. While the rest of the bunch was quiet, he proved that he might have been under-utilized with the New Orleans Saints. He was also an upgrade over the departing players such as Nicholas Morrow.
Morrow signed with the Buffalo Bills and managed just 17 snaps on Sunday, all on special teams. He didn't record a tackle and his absence from their lineup is more proof Philly did the right thing by making wholesale changes.
