With the first month of the 2025 NFL regular season in the books, the calendar has now flipped to October. The 4-0 Philadelphia Eagles are one of two teams still undefeated in the league, as they defend their Super Bowl title, which could lead to their potentially making some roster additions in the coming weeks.

If the Eagles turn to free agency for help, they'll see some notable names available, including veteran cornerback James Bradberry. Even though the NFL hasn't seen a ton of CB-related injuries, it’s still surprising to see that Bradberry isn't even on a practice squad despite his decent resume.

The last time that Eagles fans saw Bradberry on the field wasn’t great, but he’s now a year and some change removed and could help a team that needs a veteran cornerback in the secondary.

Ex-Eagle James Bradberry Still Waiting to Be Signed After Lost Season

The 32-year-old has been sidelined since missing last season after tearing his Achilles and Soleus. Bradberry’s first year with the Eagles in 2022 went well, as he had a 45.3% completion rate allowed on targets and a 51.6 pass rating allowed when targeted. He also gave up two receiving touchdowns and had three interceptions en route to being named second-team All-Pro and helping the Eagles get to Super Bowl 57.

However, things slowly went downhill for Bradberry the following year in 2023.

The veteran cornerback was the noticeable weak link in the secondary, and opposing QBs went after him. Bradberry’s completion percentage jumped up to 59.4%, along with his pass rating (114.3). He also gave up a career-high 11 receiving touchdowns, which is what no one saw coming from the veteran.

Based on his performance and the secondary in general, the Eagles overhauled the unit in free agency and the NFL draft last year. These changes made Bradberry expendable, who made the switch to safety to give him a chance to stick on the roster.

Unfortunately, the veteran defensive back went down with a season-ending leg injury during training camp last summer. The talk surrounding Bradberry has been quiet since being released in March, and it remains to be seen if any teams will call his agent soon.

In April, it was reported that the ex-Eagle was visiting with the Buffalo Bills and that the Miami Dolphins “expressed preliminary interest”. However, nothing came from those two reports, as Buffalo brought back Tre’Davious White, while Miami signed Rasul Douglas.

With it being Week 5 and the trade deadline on the horizon, it's tough to see Bradberry getting signed unless there’s a major injury. Additionally, CB-hungry teams could opt to go after Stephon Gilmore or Asante Samuel Jr., who are both available, too. Needless to say, the ex-Eagle's outlook is murky at best.
