The Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with veteran corner James Bradberry after two seasons of injuries and frustration made it the obvious decision. Still, there was reason to wonder if the team might consider a reunion as cheap depth. This was especially the case with Bradberry sitting in free agency so deep into the process. The veteran corner remaining jobless comes as a bit of a surprise considering his resume and the league's desperation to find depth at the position. While it appears a reunion is incredibly unlikely, a new opportunity may have just presented itself.

Veteran corner and former Eagle Ronald Darby informed the Houston Texans he is retiring. It is a surprise for a veteran still expected to play a contributing role on what is expected to be a contending team. For Bradberry, this presents a chance to continue his career in a landing spot that could prove to be the perfect fit.

Former Eagle Ronald Darby's Retirement Opened the Door for James Bradberry's Career to Continue

Looking at potential landing spots, it is hard to find a better fit for Bradberry than the Texans. The franchise has an incredible pass-rushing duo and great talent in the secondary. Bradberry would be brought in as a contributor, not a starter expected to fix all of the team's problems. At this stage of the veteran's career, this is the ideal fit.

The former Eagles corner needs to take a lesser role and be able to find his way back to the player he once was. Even if the numbers don't fully rebound, starting in a lesser role gives Bradberry a chance to rebuild confidence and contribute to a winning roster. All of this adds up to the veteran being a perfect fit for Houston as additional depth. After Darby's retirement, the Texans are likely to make at least one move of note, and Bradberry is the market's best remaining option.

Bradberry's time in Philly is going to be remembered for the injuries and inconsistent play that plagued the corner. However, there is no ill-will from a fan base coming off a Super Bowl win and wants the veteran's career to continue. That happening in another conference for a team of no consequence to the Eagles is best for both the veteran and his former team.
