The Philadelphia Eagles have several roster moves to make in the next 24 hours. This year's 53-man roster cutdown day is on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, but the Eagles already started making some moves on Monday.

According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Philadelphia waived offensive linemen Kenyon Green after trading for him back in March. And that makes the deal look even worse for Philly, as they traded away defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson as part of that deal.

Eagles Trading Away C.J. Gardner-Johnson Looks Even Worse Now

Gardner-Johnson was known for physicality and tone on the football field. In 28 career games with Philadelphia, he finished with 126 total tackles, seven TFLs, 20 pass deflections, and 12 interceptions. Last season, he had a 75.1 overall grade (22nd among 171 graded safeties) and 81.3 coverage grade (10th among 171 graded safeties) on Pro Football Focus.

The fact that the Eagles dished him away for Green, who won't even make the final roster, is a loss for Philadelphia. They could have gotten way more and a better player in exchange for Gardner-Johnson.

Since trading away Gardner-Johnson, the Eagles had to use the draft to bring in safety Andrew Mubuka. While he played well this preseason, Mubuka is dealing with a hamstring injury that he suffered in practice.

Philadelphia has a championship roster and nucleus, so they'll be able to manage without Gardner-Johnson. Nonetheless, the Eagles' parting ways with him for Green wasn't ideal.

Green was brought in to fight for a roster spot, but quickly fell behind after suffering multiple injuries this summer. That only pushed him down the depth chart, and eventually, he was with the third team. With Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen penciled in as starters, the Eagles liked the other depth options over Green.

Philadelphia has Jeff Stoutland as its offensive line coach, who is known as one of the best at his job in the NFL. And if he can't get something out of Green, then it just shows that he may not have the ability to be successful at this level.

Even though the Eagles still have an elite offensive line, moving on from Gardner-Johnson for Green is a massive loss. And this transaction shows that the trade was a failure.
