Eagles Players Shed Major Insight on Jalen Hurts' Injury Before NFC Title Game
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders are slated to battle in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday. A trip to Super Bowl LIX is on the line.
Eagles fans are closely watching the injury report this week since Jalen Hurts and Quinyon Mitchell both got knicked up in the Divisional Round. It looks like both of these guys will suit up, but Cam Jurgens is up in the air as he's been DNP in practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a back injury.
While that wouldn't be ideal, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata gave some positive updates on Hurts.
Eagles News: Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata Speak Highly About Jalen Hurts
After Thursday's practice, Johnson said, "He was mobile. He was moving." Meanwhile, Mailata revealed that Hurts is fired up this week, saying, "It’s good to see that."
This is the kind of answer that Eagle fans want to hear ahead of this conference championship. Hurts tweaked his left knee in the win over the Rams, casting some doubt on his physical ability going into the game.
Granted, no one is 100% healthy at this point of the season but having your franchise QB is critical. Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt already said his defense will hit Hurts like a running back on rushing plays.
The Oklahoma product being as mobile as possible will go a long way in this bout. This season, Hurts has thrown for 2,903 yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and five interceptions. On the ground, he's compiled 630 yards and 14 rushing scores.
In the last game against Washington, he was knocked out with a concussion. The Eagles ended up losing that contest. However, in Week 11 at Lincoln Financial Field, Hurts went 18-of-28 for 221 yards and ran for 39 yards in the win over the Commanders.
We'll keep a close eye on Hurts' movement in this game but his teammates have complete confidence in him.
