Eagles Have Clear Injury Concern After Thursday’s Practice
The Philadelphia Eagles are set for a divisional showdown in the NFC Championship as they take on the Washington Commanders on Sunday. While the Eagles are favorites to win the game, it's sure to be another close showdown. Hence, it is important to have everyone available for this game.
Unfortunately, Philadelphia seems to have a concerning new injury coming out of Thursday's practice. According to John McMullen, All-Pro left guard Landon Dickerson was seen taking first-team reps at center during Thursday's practice.
Cam Jurgens Could Miss NFC Championship Game With an Injury
Cam Jurgens missing a second consecutive day of practice due to a back injury is not a good sign. Following Jason Kelce's retirement last offseason, Jurgens stepped in as center this season. In 2024, Jurgens allowed four sacks, 20 QB hurries, and 25 QB pressures and was penalized six times.
All things considered, that's solid play for someone taking over for a future Hall of Famer in Kelce. However, this potential injury could severely compromise the Eagles' offensive line. Dickerson having to take over center duties for a game would immediately make the left side of Philadelphia's offensive line worse.
That's an issue, given how effective Saqoun Barkley has been in the running game all year. Without Dickerson, the Commanders will have a higher chance of slowing Barkley down.
Even though NFL fans have seen an offensive line position change due to injury work with Joe Thuney and the Kansas City Chiefs this season, it doesn't mean it will always work. Hopefully,
Jurgens can play Sunday because if he isn't, the Eagles might struggle to win the game.
