3 Eagles Nick Sirianni Needs to Stop Playing Immediately

If the Eagles want to maintain momentum as they chase a Super Bowl, HC Nick Sirianni must stop playing these three struggling players sooner rather than later.

2. Avonte Maddox, CB

The three guarantees in life this season are as follows: death, taxes, and Avonte Maddox driving Eagles fans crazy.

Although the former Pittsburgh product was a solid ballhawk early in his NFL career, it's beginning to look like Maddox's best days are behind him. He's played to an abysmal 48.6 overall defense and 49.2 coverage grades through 13 games this season, which are both bottom-10 marks when it comes to CBs.

Unsurprisingly, the coaching staff has faded Maddox out more with each passing week, as proven by his averaging 7.5 defensive snaps per game in the last four weeks. It's gotten to the point where he doesn't deserve any playing opportunities unless it's during garbage time in a blowout.

Considering how he's a free agent in the offseason, Sirianni might as well bite the bullet and bench Maddox now. It's incredibly unlikely that the 28-year-old defender will turn things around and the last thing the team needs is for him to make yet another critical blunder down the stretch — especially in the playoffs.
