3 Eagles Nick Sirianni Needs to Stop Playing Immediately

If the Eagles want to maintain momentum as they chase a Super Bowl, HC Nick Sirianni must stop playing these three struggling players sooner rather than later.

The Philadelphia Eagles will try for their 10th straight victory when they welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers to Lincoln Financial Field in Week 15. It'll be a great opportunity for the Eagles to cement themselves as Super Bowl contenders if they can beat the Steelers, who've been one of the AFC's hottest teams since October.

Even though the Eagles have also seen their fair share of momentum, the nine-game win streak hasn't been perfect. Certain players haven't exactly done much to contribute to the franchise's recent success, meaning head coach Nick Sirianni should begin re-thinking their spot in the lineup if winning the Lombardi Trophy is the ultimate goal.

With that in mind, here are three Eagles who Sirianni must stop playing immediately.

1. Jahan Dotson, WR

Back in August, the Eagles believed they had found a legitimate No. 3 wideout when they acquired Jahan Dotson from the rival Washington Commanders. The former 2022 first-rounder showed plenty of potential in his first two NFL seasons, hauling in 84 catches for 1,041 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 29 games.

Fast forward to the 2024 campaign when Dotson has been one of Philadelphia's worst pass-catchers. The ex-Penn State has yet to find the end zone as he's only turned 12 catches into 122 yards in 13 games. He hasn't tallied multiple receptions in a game since Week 4 and has finished with eight or fewer yards in each of his last four outings.

Despite his season-long struggles, Dotson still played 41% of offensive snaps in Week 14. That's just unacceptable for a player who does more harm than good, especially given that his 53.3 receiving grade is the seventh-worst mark among 120 eligible WRs on Pro Football Focus.

Dotson is still young enough (24) to have a solid NFL career, but it's clear that he isn't good enough to help with a Super Bowl pursuit right now. It's in Sirianni's best interest to bench the struggling receiver and give the opportunity to someone hungry enough to capitalize on it.
