3 Reasons Howie Roseman is the Best GM in the NFL

2. Making Smart, Aggressive Moves
Drafting well is the key to building a strong foundation for any team, but it can only get you so far. To put your team over the top, you need to make smart trades and be aggressive (but not dumb) in free agency.
In that regard, Roseman deserves high marks as well. When looking at the Eagles last year, Roseman knew Philly needed a true No. 1 wideout to elevate the offense and unlock Hurts as a passer. So he went out and traded for A.J. Brown, even though Brown was coming off the worst statistical season of his career.
Brown paid immediate dividends for the Eagles, enjoying a career year and igniting Philly’s offense overnight. Giving up a first and a third-round draft pick for him may have seemed like a lot at the time, but it’s been totally worth it as he already helped us reach a Super Bowl.
Roseman has also done a great job building his defense through trades and free agency. Guys like James Bradberry and Haason Reddick weren’t drafted by the Eagles, but they’ve turned out to be great acquisitions.
