We Eagles fans have it pretty good right now. With a dynamic QB, a loaded roster and a strong head coach, our team is blessed with an embarrassment of riches.

We also happen to have the best general manager in football, in case anyone’s asking. I mean, just look at his track record:

Pretty good, right?

Roseman has done an outstanding job running this organization over the past seven seasons, assembling talented rosters and making Philly a perennial contender.

His recent moves have transformed us into a powerhouse, which is why we’re favored to repeat as NFC champions.

So what’s Roseman’s secret? Here are three reasons why he’s the best GM in the sport right now.

3 Reasons Why Howie Roseman is Best GM

1. Great Drafting

At the end of the day, NFL GMs are largely defined by how well they draft. It’s the most sustainable and cost-effective way to build a contender, but it requires a lot of foresight and great talent evaluation.

It’s relatively easy to look at an established free agent and know what he’ll bring to your team, but projecting how college kids will perform in the pros and adjust to life in the NFL is much harder. It’s more of an art than a science.

In that regard, Roseman has improved immensely. Snagging Jalen Hurts late in the second round in 2020 has paid off massively, and doubling down on him by grabbing his college teammate DeVonta Smith a year later has worked to perfection.

Those are the biggest success stories on the current roster, of course, but they’re not the only ones. Miles Sanders and Dallas Goedert were both second-round picks by Roseman as well and are now among the best players at their respective positions.

That’s how you build a Super Bowl-caliber core. Philly’s potent offense is largely homegrown and is one of the most explosive in the NFL, ranking third in points and eighth in yards last year. Most of that production came from players drafted by Roseman.
