The Bears might actually be “buyers” at this year’s trade deadline.

Despite undergoing a massive quarterback identity crisis last season, the Chicago Bears find themselves sat at 4-1 just over a quarter of the way through the 2020 season. They just knocked off Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on national television, and Nick Foles appears to be in the process of recapturing some of his Philly magic.

It’s unclear just how “for real” the Bears are at the moment, especially considering the fact that they lost to the Indianapolis Colts (who look kinda bad), but that might not really matter to them. They have a solid defense, they’re finally getting decent QB play, and they’re currently in a position to make the playoffs.

That all might just be enough to convince them to “buy” hard at this year’s deadline.

If they’re looking for a quick upgrade to their offense, pairing Foles back up with the tight end that he won a Super Bowl with is about as easy of a decision as one could make. Foles and Ertz had solid stretches together in both 2017 and 2018, and the Bears have shown an affinity for adding tight ends as of late.
