Running Back

Next up is running back which was a roller coaster ride of position this off-season. While fans cried out for Howie Roseman to make a move and sign a running back, he proved he always has a trick up his sleeve and made a steal of a trade for Chicago RB Jordan Howard making him the new starter for Philly. On the bench is Corey Clement, Josh Adams, and Wendell Smallwood, all of which were rotated in games throughout last season.

Howard is coming off of a 15 game season with 935 yards on 250 rushes and nine touchdowns. This was actually his first year rushing for less than a thousand yards since entering the league in 2016. Clement, Adams, and Smallwood combined for just 1,134 yards and eight touchdowns last season making the Howard acquisition a key one.

However, with these measly results from three running backs last season and Jordan Howard being on the last year of his rookie contract the Philadelphia Eagles are still expected to look at running backs in the draft, most likely between the second and fourth round. Of course, the Eagles are missing a third rounder but do have two second and fourth-round picks.

A lot of people had Philadelphia taking Josh Jacobs out of Alabama in the first round. However, after the Howard trade, their first pick will most likely be another position.

Even then though another name comes up Miles Sanders RB out of Penn State, who should be a second-round pick based off projections. After Saquon Barkley left Penn State being drafted by the Giants, Sanders took over the starting role with full advantage rushing for 1,274 yards on 220 rushes with nine touchdowns. Sanders is a more elusive and quick back that can provide a nice change of pace in his first season with the potential to become a solid starter in the future.
