Wide Receiver

At wide receiver, Philadelphia has a solid starting three with a strong body receiver in Alshon Jeffery, a speedy veteran in Desean Jackson, and a still young Nelson Agholor that should be able to do more now with another speed receiver to take the cover off of him. However after what should be a solid starting bunch of receivers the Eagles depth consists of the young Mack Hollins who’s coming off of an injury, a returning camp body in Greg Ward Jr, and another young receiver Shelton Gibson. With the Eagles secondary receivers not having much of a true sample size it could make Philly draft a wide receiver in the middle rounds.

Some people would say if he’s there at 25, the Eagles should select top receiver, D.K. Metcalf. However, that would cause for a top prospect to unlikely fall deep into the first round. On the backside of the same hand, the Eagles could look at Marquise Brown a top three receiver that is slated to go in the second round or sneak into the end of the first round. At 168-pounds Brown is considered undersized, but his speed makes him a vicious threat with his pro comparison actually being Jackson. In his final year at Oklahoma Brown put up 1,318 yards (top 10 nationally) off 75 receptions, 10 touchdowns, and averaged 17.6 yards a catch.

Although a more likely situation will play out where the Philadelphia Eagles look to draft a wide receiver with their second, second round pick or later on with a fourth to seventh-round pick. One name that comes up in this area is Riley Ridley. The receiver started 12 of 14 games for Georgia and put up 570 yards off 44 receptions for nine touchdowns in 2018. Mock drafts have Ridley going in the third round. Even though the Eagles have no third round pick, they do have two second-round picks and could select Ridley with the second pick of the round.

If the Philadelphia Eagles wait on a receiver until the later rounds you could see them look local and select a New Jersey high school standout that would go on to attend North Carolina State that is projected to go in the second to fourth rounds Kelvin Harmon. In 12 starts Harmon had a team-leading 1,186 receiving yards and seven touchdowns off 81 catches. He also proved well against top opponents having his best game of the season against Clemson with 155 yards and a touchdown off eight catches. Kelvin is compared to Mohamed Sanu and is complimented for being able to play the ball in the air and having upper body strength that he can use to be aggressive against defenders. A couple of other names to look for on draft day that are third and later round projections include:  Andy IsabellaEmanuel Hall,  David Sills, and Hunter Renfrow.
