Get pressure on Eli Manning

This one might be the biggest key to having any success on defense on Sunday. The Eagles are down to guys who were not on the roster a month ago at cornerback and if Eli Manning has any time on Sunday, he is going to poach the Eagles secondary.

The three guys the Eagles had at cornerback to start the season are all injured in Jalen Mills, Ronald Darby and Sidney Jones. The fourth guy Rasul Douglas is nursing a knee injury that he suffered last week and looks unlikely to play on Sunday against the Giants.

It is going to be up to the guys up front to get into Manning’s face all afternoon. New York’s offensive line has been underwhelming to say the least, and the Eagles need to take advantage of that. If they can’t get to Eli quickly, it may be a long day for the Eagles’ defense.

They are also going to have to do something that they don’t do that often on defense, and that is blitz. I know Jim Schwartz is not too fond of blitzing, but he is going to have to blitz early and often and get Manning rattled.

New York’s wide receivers against the Eagles corners is a huge mismatch and it is fair to expect Odell Beckham Jr. to have a big day. The Eagles defense is banged up and if they let Manning pick apart their defense, then the Eagles may be in for their third straight loss.
