7. Houston Texans

Are the Houston Texans the best team in the AFC South? Yes, but does that mean they’re a good team in general? That remains to be seen.

Sure, they have a great quarterback in second-year signal-caller DeShaun Watson, and just posted their offense with the trade deadline acquisition of Demaryius Thomas, but who has the team beaten to earn their current 6-3 record?

The Dallas Cowboys? The Indianapolis Colts? The Buffalo Bills?

Outside of a Week 7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Texans really haven’t recorded a true signature win in almost three months of action save for a blowout W over the Dolphins.

Is Bill O’Brein’s squad really that imposing, or just the beneficiaries of a last place schedule? That, my friends, is the question that could define the second half of their season once the return to action in Week 12 after their bye.

With a pretty light schedule moving forward outside of bouts against the Eagles and Washington, it looks like the Texans will without a doubt be representing the AFC South in the playoffs this season, but how far they go is really anyone’s guess. My guess? A bounce from the big dance in the Wildcard round.
