2018 NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Eagles lose tough battle of NFC Championship rematch

7. New England Patriots
In a way, it seemed pretty clear that the New England Patriots were going to come out firing when taking numerous factors into consideration, whether it was the team’s 2-2 start or the return of Julian Edelman after his four-game suspension. For weeks, the wide receiver position has been viewed as a weakness for the Patriots when looking at the inconsistent support Tom Brady was receiving for the most part, but if Thursday is any indication, this offense could be heating up.
Along with Edelman catching seven passes for 57 yards, New England saw Josh Gordon finally make an impact after the former Cleveland Browns wideout hauled in a 34-yard touchdown in the second half, which also happened to be No. 500 for Brady on his career. With weapons like these to work with each week, it’s safe to assume that Brady is going to find his name in the running for the MVP award once again since the Patriots seem to finally be on the right track after winning two games in a row.
Deep down, football fans knew it was only a matter of time before New England started to play at this kind of level as one of the top contenders in the AFC. And with a few extra days of rest as a result from playing on Thursday, this could give them a slight edge over the Kansas City Chiefs in what should be an epic Week 6 showdown.
