Number 4: 473 ft. and another one against Tim Hudson and the Braves on September 18th, 2009.

Ryan Howard’s 2009 season saw him finishing with 45 home runs and 141 RBI. Tim Hudson was a victim of two of them, and reliever Vladimir Nunez gave up a third to Ben Fransisco. The 473 ft. smash came in the 4th inning.

You can see the ball fly over the right-center field wall where Howard had some of his biggest home runs. Ryan Howard once again single-handedly took down the Atlanta Braves with thanks to another sky-rocketing home run.

Like Chase Utley has his own corner at the New York Mets’ Citi Field, I think it’s time to name that righ-center field corner after “The Big Piece”. It’s only fair, as Howard has provided some of the franchise’s longest home runs in that exact spot.

This ball came off the bat at 115.3 miles per hour, and it was against the wind. That’s right, Howard hit it 473 ft. AGAINST THE WIND. This man had more power than anyone the Philadelphia Phillies have seen since Mike Schmidt. It’s time his power be recognized with his own piece of history at the stadium he wreaked havoc.

Ryan Howard’s frequent blast offs over the right-center field fence will be missed dearly by the fans of the Philadelphia Phillies. It was a trait that maybe we took for granted. We were just expecting home runs at that point, and got irrationally upset when we didn’t see them as frequent as we wanted to.
