7. Oren Burks
The Eagles signed Burks to a one-year deal this past offseason as a depth linebacker who can also play special teams. The 29-year-old defender appeared in all 17 regular season games and made two starts against the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.
In the regular season finale against New York, Burks was all over the field with 17 combined tackles and two tackles for loss. In Week 17 against the Cowboys, the veteran linebacker had eight combined tackles and a forced fumble.
This season, Burks played 71 percent of special teams and 14 percent of defensive snaps. He also had nine special teams total tackles.
Before joining the Eagles this past offseason, the 6-foot-3 linebacker spent the prior two years with the San Francisco 49ers. Burks played much more on defense in his last year in San Fran, but quietly became one of the Eagles' better special teams players alongside Kelee Ringo.
If Burks doesn’t get a potential starting role in free agency, there’s a good chance he returns as the Eagles would like to keep the consistency they’ve found in the linebacker unit.
The Eagles’ LB unit was one of the best stories this season. Zack Baun became a Pro Bowler in his first year as a full-time starter, Nakobe Dean showed why he was one of the best players in the SEC, while Burks and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. shined in their roles when called upon.
