After their tenth straight win over the weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles are now 12-2 for the season with an excellent chance at securing the first-round bye. With a favorable schedule the rest of the way, all against their division rivals, the Eagles have an opportunity to finish with a historic 15-2 record.

Their biggest obstacle in front of doing that will be the Week 16 matchup against the Commanders. Washington is desperately trying to clinch a playoff spot with a win over Philadelphia but the Eagles are 3.5-point road favorites per FanDuel Sportsbook. Looking at the two teams' track records, however, the Eagles may be seriously undervalued.

The Commanders have been a nice story this season but a glance at their schedule and the teams they have beaten paints a different picture. They have the worst strength of victory (.280) of any team vying for a playoff spot, and they shockingly have not beaten a single team with a winning record.

They also have stylistic disadvantages going up against the Eagles. As good as Jayden Daniels has been in his rookie season, his receiver corps leaves plenty to be desired. The Eagles have the best defense in the league and should be able to put pressure on Daniels while stopping Terry McLaurin. Philadelphia's defense allowed fewer than 20 points in five of their last six games. The Eagles held them to 18 points in their first matchup of the season.

Defensively, the Commanders are not a good team. Their red zone defense has been a problem all season and they are very thin on the defensive line. They are ranked 30th in PFF in overall defense and 29th in run defense. Going up against the Eagles' offensive line and Saquon Barkley, that will be a serious issue.

Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni have never lost in Washington. The Eagles defense never looked as good as it has looked in recent games. The stakes are high for the Eagles, who have a chance to clinch the top seed in the NFC in the last three games.

All of these signs point to a more comfortable win for the Eagles than the betting line suggests.
