The Philadelphia Eagles (12-2) are playing excellent football, with the regular season set to wrap up in a couple of weeks. Philadelphia currently has the longest win streak in the NFL at ten games. In Week 15, they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-14.
While they were handling their business, the Detroit Lions lost to the Buffalo Bills 48-42. That was exactly what Philadelphia wanted to see and their chances of overtaking the Lions for the No. 1 seed in the NFC just increased on Monday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Detroit running back David Montgomery is out indefinitely after he suffered an MCL injury in Week 15. Montgomery is getting more testing done on his knee, but there's a chance that he will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.
That is a huge loss for the Lions, as they are sixth in the NFL in rushing offense (143.7). In 2024, he had 775 rushing yards while being tied for fourth in the league in rushing touchdowns (12).
Not only did the Lions lose Montgomery but Detroit lost DL Alim McNeill for the season with a torn ACL and CB Carlton Davis fractured his jaw and will miss six weeks.

The Lions have been slammed by the injury bug and are hanging on by a thread for the top seed in the NFC.
They will match up against the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, and Minnesota Vikings to round out the season. Meanwhile, the Eagles will play the Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants to end the campaign.
Detroit has lost countless contributors at key positions this season, and it continued to get worse on Sunday.
The last time the Eagles had the No. 1 seed in the NFC and forced teams to travel to Lincoln Financial Field was in 2022 when they made it to the Super Bowl.
The Eagles are close to notching the top seed again and the losses in Detroit play into their favor with only three weeks left in the regular season.
