Top Remaining Free Agent is Perfect Eagles Signing Before OTAs

Even though most of the top free agents have been signed, the Philadelphia Eagles still have time to add a certain available veteran before OTAs begin.

The Philadelphia Eagles held their 2025 rookie minicamp over the weekend, assessing their treasures found during this year's NFL draft and the subsequent fallout. The annual event was just the latest stop on the defending Super Bowl Champions' offseason journey, with the next stop being the organized team activities (OTAs) that will begin on Tuesday, May 27.

Even though there are three weeks until OTAs, there's still plenty of time for the Eagles to further flesh out their roster. Head coach Nick Sirianni needs the strongest possible lineup to have the best shot at repeating as champions next season, which is why Philadelphia should target the perfect veteran free agent who's still available.

Eagles Must Sign Free Agent WR Amari Cooper Before OTAs

As good as elite wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are, the Eagles could use more help at the wide receiver position. The likes of Jahan Dotson, Terrace Mitchell, Ainias Smith, and Johnny Wilson are all up-and-coming wideouts who Philadelphia wants to see take the next step, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for a veteran WR like Amari Cooper in the fold.

Cooper, 30, is a five-time Pro Bowl wideout who's played 154 regular-season games for four franchises across 10 years. He's amassed over 10,000 yards and 64 touchdowns on 711 targets throughout his memorable career, boasting the exact type of experience the Eagles' WR room could use right now.

The former Alabama playmaker is coming off an uneventful 2024 campaign that saw him convert 44 receptions into 547 receiving yards and four TDs in 14 games split between the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills. Although the performance wasn't anything to write home about, Cooper's lowered production can be attributed to the Browns' disastrous offense and the fact that he didn't have much time to mesh with his Bills teammates.

Signing with a fresh-off-a-Super-Bowl-win Eagles team could be exactly what Cooper needs to get his career back on track. He averaged 14.9 yards per reception and a 100.7 passer rating when targeted after joining the Bills, proving he still has plenty of juice left in the tank.

Besides, a potential Eagles signing would help Cooper stick it to one of his former teams, the Dallas Cowboys. The 6-foot-1 WR played parts of four seasons with the Cowboys before being traded to the Browns partway through the 2018 campaign, and what better way to get revenge than by helping Philadelphia beat Dallas twice a year?

Although Spotrac is projecting Cooper to command $18.9 million annually, his price might be a lot lower now that the calendar has flipped to May. On top of that, the allure of competing for his first-ever Super Bowl ring might be enough to convince him to take that pay cut.

The Eagles currently hold the top Super Bowl 60 odds (+650) on FanDuel Sportsbook just three weeks before OTAs begin. In other words, Cooper better hop on board before his best shot at a Super Bowl next season leaves the station.
