The 2025 NFL preseason is set to wrap up this weekend, which means many players across the league will get one final chance to prove themselves to win a job on the 53-man roster.
The Philadelphia Eagles have several players on the roster bubble who could be on the Week 1 roster or find themselves on the practice squad, making Friday’s game against the New York Jets important.
At the same time, several ex-Eagles players are trying to keep their NFL dreams alive, as they compete for jobs on their respective teams. We’ve already seen one former Eagles receiver get pushed aside by the New York Giants on Friday.
And now, an ex-Eagles tight end, who was on the team late last season, was kicked to the curb by Philadelphia’s in-state rival.
The Steelers announce they have cut 11 players:

Former Eagles TE Kevin Foelsch Gets Dismissed by Steelers
On Friday, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reported that former Eagles pass catcher Kevin Foelsch was among the 11 players released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 24-year-old tight end saw 12 snaps on offense in Pittsburgh’s preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers, but didn’t record a single target. It was a similar story in the Steelers’ second preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (29 total snaps).
The former New Haven standout initially joined the Steelers on July 29, but was waived days later on August 5, only to be re-signed again on Aug. 11.
As for his time with the Eagles, Foelsch was claimed off waivers late August after he was kicked to the curb by the New York Jets.
Philadelphia parted ways with Foelsch at the end of last preseason but signed him to the taxi squad in September. The Eagles cut ties with the young pass catcher throughout the season, bringing him back to the club in mid-December and then releasing Foelsch on Christmas Eve.
Even though Foelsch didn’t get a chance to play in a regular-season game with the Eagles, he still got a Super Bowl ring, which was given to anyone on the roster or the practice squad during the season.
That said, it will be interesting to see if the former Eagles pass catcher can find a practice squad opportunity either in Pittsburgh or with another team next week.
