One of the biggest battles going on in the Philadelphia Eagles' training camp so far is the competition for the CB2 spot. Throughout the first few weeks of camp, neither Kelee Ringo nor Adoree' Jackson has stood out. As a result, Philadelphia made a trade to add to the competition.
On Monday night, the Eagles traded a fourth-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for cornerback Jakorian Bennett. While this move may have shocked non-Eagles fans, for the people who have been listening to Vic Fangio, this move didn't come as a surprise. Prior to the trade, Fangio confirmed that no one has separated from the pack, according to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jakorian Bennett will get tossed into the CB mix and compete for the open spot on the outside with Kelee Ringo, Adoree’ Jackson, et al.

Read into what you will about how that competition has gone. Vic Fangio confirmed what has been obvious: No one has separated from the pack. https://t.co/9OnWoiqvar
Eagles CB Trade Shouldn't Have Been a Surprise
For those who have been keeping up with Eagles camp, Ringo has not made headlines for good reasons. As soon as camp began, the 23-year-old was thrown into deep water, having to cover A.J. Brown.
Though Ringo struggled with this assignment, no one except Quinyon Mitchell has been able to cover brown effectively. Even so, Ringo's struggles gave Jackson an opportunity to step in as the CB2.
So far, Jackson has received mixed reviews from Fangio. Following one practice last week, Fangio had this to say on Jackson.
"I don't know if I think it's the place. I think it's time for him to show that. In Tennessee, when it came time to re-sign him after his contract was up, they didn't. The Giants, his contract was up, they didn't. It's time to show who he is or who he isn't. He's played a good bit of ball, but I think this is the place where he's got to show who he is and be the player hopefully that people have always thought he could be."Vic Fangio
These comments clearly showed that Fangio wanted the veteran to play better during practice. It looked like Jackson had accomplished this after Fangio told the media he thought Jackson was playing better during his press conference Monday morning.
Still, Philadelphia felt they needed to add another person to the battle. Bennett, a former fourth-round pick, has had a rough start to his career. In two seasons, the 24-year-old has recorded 58 tackles and 11 passes defensed in 24 games (11 starts).
Furthermore, he has struggled in coverage, recording a 41.1 grade as a rookie in 2023 and a 61.0 grade in 2024, according to PFF. Be that as it may, he didn't have great coaching with the Raiders, so the hope is he can turn a corner with the Eagles.
Nonetheless, the battle for the Eagles CB2 remains interesting.
