The Philadelphia Eagles have been using the last few months to see who will be on the team for the 2025 season. Spring workouts and training camp have helped paint a picture of who'll be there, and the Eagles already parted ways with a rookie WR.

According to Jeff McLane, Philadelphia released WR Giles Jackson and added LB Chance Campbell.

Eagles Released WR Giles Jackson on Wednesday

Philadelphia signed Jackson as an undrafted free agent this spring and he was fighting to make the roster as one of the depth WRs. Jackson had a six-year collegiate career between Michigan and Washington. At those stops, he had 159 catches for 1,723 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

Jackson played in 26 total snaps in the first two preseason games against the Bengals and Browns, but only managed to reel in two catches for nine yards. The only locks at the WR position are A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Jahan Dotson.

The Eagles traded for John Metchie on Monday, which illustrated how they felt about the depth on the team at WR.

Guys like Darius Cooper, Johnny Wilson, and Ainias Smith have all shown more juice in these practices and games. There isn't a lot of room left in the WR room, and it's clear that Jackson didn't show enough in order to keep him around.

Philadelphia will be a run-first offense in the first place, so for them to keep a WR around, he must show some real potential, which Jackson wasn't able to do.

This move bodes well for other WRs in the room, as there's one less player fighting for targets. Philadelphia will wrap up the preseason against the New York Jets, but the starters will most likely be on the sideline. This will give fringe players one last shot to show the coaching staff what they can do before they decide to part ways with a flurry of different guys to get down to 53 players on the active roster.
