After the completion of their final preseason game last week, the Philadelphia Eagles didn’t waste any time making cuts to their 90-man roster.

On Sunday morning, the Eagles made a shocking trade for a third-string quarterback. And made two other trades on the offensive line. The Eagles also made the not-so-surprising decision to cut Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

That being said, the Eagles are still a long way from putting the finishing touches on the 53-man roster. On Monday, Philadelphia dismissed one of its new additions from this offseason, as he failed to stand out and actually fell down the depth chart.

Eagles Promptly Ushers Out Kenyon Green Ahead of Cutdown Day

According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, the Eagles waived young offensive lineman Kenyon Green, whom they acquired from the Houston Texans in the C.J. Gardner-Johnson trade in March. Since Green was waived and not released, he could end up on the Eagles’ practice squad if he’s not claimed by another team.

The former first-round pick was looking to change the narrative about himself after getting off to a rough start with the Texans. The Eagles seemed like the perfect place for Green to get back on track, while getting a crash course at Jeff Stoutland University.

However, the 24-year-old lineman failed to make an impact in his short tenure with the Eagles. He got banged up during training camp and was carted off the field in the preseason opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

With Green struggling to stay healthy, the Eagles demoted him to the third-team offensive line, which is never a good sign for a player and his 53-man roster hopes. Two weeks ago, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Green would likely miss the rest of the preseason with a shoulder injury.

Now, with Green reportedly out of the picture, the Eagles’ backup offensive line depth is starting to take shape. Matt Pryor, whom the Eagles brought back this offseason, will likely be their top guard option after he didn’t suit up in the preseason finale.

Meanwhile, Fred Johnson will be the Eagles’ top offensive tackle backup after they brought him back to the organization in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. That said, we’ll see in a matter of days if Philly wants to bring back Green to the taxi squad.
