The Philadelphia Eagles are fired up after winning the Super Bowl on Sunday night but that isn’t the case for everyone. While the Eagles are thrilled to win their second championship in the past eight seasons, the victory leaves a trail of tears from their rivals.

One of their biggest rivals was the latest to come out of the woodwork on Wednesday and it shows that Philadelphia will have a lot of people gunning for them when they defend their title in 2025.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Calls Out the Eagles After Super Bowl Victory

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was one rival who was not in a celebratory mood after the Eagles beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Speaking on “The St. Brown Podcast” with his brothers Equanimeous and Osiris, Amon-Ra went off when talking about the potential of the Eagles opening the 2025 season against the Lions.

“Their team’s not going to change much,” Amon-Ra St. Brown said. “Maybe a little but…you would see what could have happened in an NFC Championship with a healthy defense, how that s*** operates.”

St. Brown is salty for a few reasons. For starters, the Lions finished the season with a 15-2 record and owned the top seed in the NFC playoffs. Had Detroit not been upset by the Washington Commanders in the divisional round, the Eagles would have had to have gone to Ford Field to reach the Super Bowl.

But St. Brown also mentioned that the Lions were missing 13 defensive players over the course of the season. While Aidan Hutchinson was still recovering from a broken tibia and fibula suffered last October, assuming that the game would be different with a full roster sounds like the Lions are trying to play video game football where nobody gets hurt.

The Eagles were able to blow past hypotheticals and win the Super Bowl while the Lions were thinking of hypotheticals in Cancun. It sets the stage for what could be a marquee matchup in the opening week of the 2025 season but it will be up to the NFL to decide whether that will happen.
