Former Philadelphia Eagles star Zach Ertz is officially a free agent after clearing waivers following his release from the Arizona Cardinals. With the former Super Bowl champ looking for a new home, many are hoping he'll actually return to familiar territory and suit up for the Eagles once again.

A partnership between the two sides makes a ton of sense in reality, though Ertz is sure to have a few offers to weigh before putting pen to paper. After it was unclear when he'd decide on his next squad, the timeline for that choice has now been revealed.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported on Ertz's free agency on Sunday, saying a decision is expected to come incredibly soon. In fact, he may settle on his new team by Monday. Garafolo added there's a "handful" of franchises looking to add the three-time Pro Bowler, and the results of Week 13 could impact where he lands.

It sounds like this sweepstakes could be wrapped up at seemingly any moment, thought it makes sense for Ertz to wait on the outcome of Sunday's games. He could end up finding a better role, situation or contract offer depending on what happens in Week 13. As a result, it's best for him to hold off and let the dust settle.

Philadelphia offers a comfortable spot that Ertz knows inside and out after spending his 8.5 seasons with the team, as well as a chance to win another ring. We also know GM Howie Roseman would offer whatever it took to secure Ertz if he saw this as a must-have signing.

However, playing time is the area Philly lacks with fellow TE stud Dallas Goedert at the top of depth chart and eyeing a return from injury. That being said, it should be tough for Ertz to turn this opportunity down considering his deep love for the Eagles.
