WATCH: Christian McCaffrey Exposes Eagles' Predictable Play-Calling on MNF
By Thomas Erbe
The Philadelphia Eagles are struggling tremendously in every phase of the game. But for as much as the recent defensive shakeups and collapses stand out, it's been the offensive play-calling that seems to be the biggest concern.
This is a concern that has been brewing for a while too.
After the Eagles' first loss in this streak, some players openly admitted that they felt like the San Francisco 49ers knew what was coming before a play started.
And now 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey confirmed that for us during the Monday Night Football broadcast in Week 15.
Eagles News: Christian McCaffrey Confirms Philly is Easy to Read
McCaffrey sniffed this play out with ease, leaving Hall of Famer Peyton Manning amazed.
He dissected almost exactly what the Eagles were about to do. He knew the basics of the play and a good chunk of what the blocking assignments looked like.
Now, McCaffrey is one of the game's best at what he does. We should not discredit his knowledge of the game. The point is how easy it came to him.
This isn't a defensive player who had studied tape on the Eagles' offense all season, either. McCaffrey isn't wasting much prep time in any given week to trying to learn what an opponent's offense is doing. But even still, he dissected the play almost instantly.
This should be a huge concern for the Eagles. The best player on the best team in the league, who just three weeks ago came into your house and handed you a loss, just exposed the offense's lack of creativity on national television.
Maybe the Eagles should consider running the Brotherly Shove every single play.
