Eagles Demote Coach in Massive Staff Shakeup Before MNF
By Joe Summers
The Eagles are searching for a solution after two straight embarrassing losses that leaves the team in danger of losing the NFC East division title.
It seems one potential solution is here, as Philly made a significant defensive play-calling change ahead of Monday Night Football against the Seahawks.
Check out the big change below.
Eagles News: Team Makes Defensive Coaching Process Change
Defensive coordinator Sean Desai has been demoted from his role, and will instead see former assistant Matt Patricia take his place as the play-caller for this unit.
Each of the Eagles' last three opponents put up 33 points or more, casting doubt on Philadelphia's ability to make a deep run in the playoffs.
The secondary is the biggest culprit of late, with Philly surrendering 7.7 yards per pass attempt over that three-game skid. That would rank as the worst mark in the NFL this season overall, so it's clear improvement needs to be made.
Matt Patricia most notably served as the Patriots' offensive coordinator last year following a failed stint as the head coach of the Lions.
If I'm being honest, this move feels like pressing the panic button, especially given Patricia's recent lack of success. With Jalen Hurts battling an illness and questionable to play on Monday, it's fair to be worried.
Fingers crossed this move inspires the defense and Philadelphia comes out on top.
