The Philadelphia Eagles are ready to roll for the 2024 campaign. After a terrible ending last season, they made it their mission to bolster this roster at multiple positions.

The Eagles made splashy additions like Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, CJ Gardner-Johnson, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean over the offseason. They also have Isaiah Rodgers coming back from suspension and re-signed Avonte Maddox but another surprising player is stepping up.

Eagles News: Kelee Ringo Is Stepping up Training Camp

According to Zach Berman, second-year cornerback Kelee Ringo has been playing as the No. 2 CB across from Darius Slay for the past three practices.

Ringo was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. When coming out of high school in 2020, he was the No. 1 cornerback in the nation and the No. 4 overall prospect. He stands at 6'2 and has great movement skills in coverage. He has loose hips and has the speed to stay with receivers downfield.

Last season he started four games as a rookie, notching 17 solo tackles, two pass deflections, one interception, and one fumble recovery. Now it looks like he took his game to another level this offseason and is ready to snatch that CB2 role.

That would be a pretty significant surprise for Eagles fans, considering the team spent its top two draft picks on cornerbacks in Mitchell and DeJean. But as we know, draft status doesn't mean everything — especially for rookies who have to earn their stripes.

It looks like Ringo has caught the attention of the coaching staff and has earned the right to start in training camp.

What remains to be seen is whether he hangs onto that job. It's no uncommon for teams to favor veterans on their early training camp depth charts, and with over a month (not to mention three preseason games) left to decide the position battle, Ringo is far from guaranteed to remain the No. 2 when the regular season kicks off.

Of course, having enough cornerback talent to fuel a full-on training camp battle is a great situation for the Eagles to find themselves in after the position group proved to be a significant weakness in 2024.
