The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to take a step forward this season after they had a disappointing ending to the 2023 campaign.

Things started off well for this team last year when they were 10-1 but things fell off the grid. They ended up dropping six of their last seven games, which led to the team making some changes this offseason.

One player who was on the 2023 team just retired surprisingly.

Eagles News: Rashaad Penny Retires From the NFL

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, running back Rashaad Penny was placed on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday by the Carolina Panthers.

In 2023, he joined the Birds on a one-year deal that was worth $1.35 million but things never worked out for the two.

During his tenure in Philly, he only logged 11 carries for 33 yards in three games played. It was just a bad fit for both sides and they decided to move on from each other.

The Eagles ended up adding Saquon Barkley to their backfield in free agency as they look to take a step forward in 2024.

Unfortunately for Penny, things didn't improve for him in Philly. Injuries played a big role in his decline so he decided to step away from the game.

In his career with the Seattle Seahawks and the Eagles, Penny finished with 348 carries for 1,951 rushing yards, and 13 touchdowns.

He was known for being a smooth runner with good speed in open space but that didn't translate when he was with the Eagles.
