The Philadelphia 76ers will have a lot of tough decisions to make over the next couple of months. They were sent home in the first round by the New York Knicks after Joel Embiid went down for an extended period of time with a knee injury during the regular season.

Going into 2024-25, the goal of this team is to find a way to add more talent around Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. They can create up to $65 million in cap space this offseason, which means they can be big spenders in both free agency and the trade market.

There have been rumblings that the 76ers are interested in a potential reunion with Jimmy Butler but it sounds like they will have some competition to acquire him this summer.

76ers News: Golden State Warriors May Have Interest in Jimmy Butler

The Golden State Warriors are another team that could be making a bunch of moves this offseason. After failing to make the postseason and Klay Thompson expected to hit free agency, they are a team that could be interested in Butler's services.

Anthony Slater of the Athletic recently reported that the Warriors may be interested in trading for Butler.

Slater said, "If the Heat shop Jimmy Butler, I would expect the Warriors to enter the conversation to at least some degree."

Kurt Helin of NBCSports said there were rumblings that Miami could be open to parting ways with Butler this offseason.

If that were to happen, both Philadelphia and Golden State will be interested in the six-time All-Star. Butler, 34, is still an effective two-way threat in the frontcourt. At this stage of his career, he won't go all out in the regular season but once the playoffs start, he'll be ready to roll.

In 60 games with the Heat in 2023-24, Butler averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and five assists per game in 34 minutes of action.

Butler is seeking a two-year, $113 million extension this offseason. Philadelphia has the funds to give him that type of money but they may have to outbid the Warriors first.
