Promising Defender Named Eagles' Breakout Player of 2024
The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the most talented rosters in the league. Even though they ended the 2023 season on a sour note, the Eagles are still loaded with talent.
They added impact forces in both free agency and the NFL Draft. Philadelphia now rolls into 2024 with expectations sky-high.
Philly has an abundance of young talent on the roster and an emerging defender was named as a breakout player for the 2024 season.
Eagles News: Jalen Carter Named Breakout Candidate
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com released an article that had a list of breakout candidates for the 2024 season. Brooks had Jalen Carter on that list and that shouldn't come as a surprise.
The former Georgia standout was a beast in his rookie campaign, showcasing his rare combination of speed and power.
Carter only started in one game for the Eagles but dominated in the 51% of snaps he played. He finished with 33 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, nine QB hits, and six sacks. Carter also logged two forced fumbles.
With a larger role expected to take place with Fletcher Cox retiring and Jordan Davis struggling to cement him along the trenches, the opportunity is there for Carter.
Brooks said, "With Vic Fangio taking over the unit, Carter could blossom as a featured playmaker at the point of attack. Whether harassing quarterbacks up the gut or punishing runners attacking the middle, Carter could destroy opponents at the line of scrimmage, especially given the defensive architect's history with interior playmakers -- like Christian Wilkins just last season in Miami."
With training camp right around the corner, starting on July 23, Carter will get his chance to make his presence felt leading into the regular season.
