Phillies Odds: New World Series Favorites After Dominant Game 2 Performance
By Tyler Maher
For a brief moment on Tuesday, the Texas Rangers became World Series favorites after going up 2-0 on the Houston Astros in the ALCS.
That didn't last long, however, as the Philadelphia Phillies are now World Series favorites after obliterating the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 10-0 rout on Tuesday night.
Phillies World Series Odds
With the Phillies just two wins away from returning to the Fall Classic for the second year in a row, they now have the shortest odds to win it all at multiple sportsbooks, including FanDuel (+110), BetMGM (+110), Caesars (+115) and DraftKings (+120).
This isn't surprising, as Philadelphia has been close to unbeatable this postseason. The Phillies are now 7-1 in October, including a perfect 6-0 at Citizens Bank Park.
Philly has dominated everyone in its path, outscoring the Miami Marlins 11-2 in the Wild Card Round, the Atlanta Braves 20-8 in the NLDS and the Diamondbacks 15-3 so far in the NLCS. That adds up to a +33 run differential through 8 games -- an average difference of 4.13 runs per game.
Looking at it another way, the Phillies have outscored their opponents 46-13 in the playoffs, which is absolutely insane. The postseason isn't supposed to be that easy, especially when you're playing the best teams in the league.
But Philadelphia is built differently, as we've been saying for months now. This is a team that nearly won it all last year and is built to win it all this year. The offense is electric and has already set multiple playoff home run records. The starting pitching has been outstanding, and the bullpen has done its job. What more could you ask for?
The Rangers are on a similar run in the AL, so we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves just yet. But if the Phillies keep it up, they're going to be very tough to beat in the Fall Classic.
