On top of the disastrous collapse the Philadelphia Eagles suffered on Monday Night Football, their fans received even more concerning news during the broadcast. ESPN reported that star wide receiver AJ Brown would miss a few weeks due to a hamstring injury. Considering the way the Eagles' offense struggled at times without Jalen Hurts' No. 1 option, this was obviously seen as a major blow.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni failed to confirm these reports after the game. According to Zach Berman of PHLY, Sirianni currently doesn't know Brown's status for the upcoming weeks.

NFL News: Nick Sirianni Contradicts Earlier AJ Brown Injury News

This is a surprising and confusing development. ESPN's Lisa Salters had based her reporting directly on AJ Brown. The fact that a reporter has the information on a star player's injury before the Eagles head coach is certainly concerning.

If Sirianni had said this before a game, it could be chalked up to gamesmanship. It could be seen as a way to keep the opponent on their toes. Saying it immediately after a game, however, is harder to understand.

Either the reporting is inaccurate or Sirianni doesn't have a good grasp of what is happening with his team. For the sake of Eagles fans, let's hope it's the former.

The Falcons game was the first regular-season outing Brown missed as an Eagle. He had previously missed the Wild Card game against the Buccaneers last season. Philadelphia is now 0-2 in games without Brown.

That doesn't bode well for the Eagles' chances in Week 3 against the red-hot New Orleans Saints. They are currently 1.5-point underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
