The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most interesting teams heading into the 2024 season. They experienced a lot of turnover this offseason but that's what you would expect the way last season ended.

General manager Howie Roseman did a superb job adding talent through free agency, the NFL Draft, and the trade market.

Back in March, Philadelphia traded for quarterback Kenny Pickett as they were searching for a backup quarterback.

Things haven't been smooth sailing for Pickett this summer as he struggled during training camp, opening the door for Tanner McKee. But despite all the noise surrounding the backup quarterback battle, head coach Nick Sirianni has doubled down on Pickett.

Eagles News: Kenny Pickett Will Be Backup Quarterback in 2024

On Thursday night, head coach Nick Sirianni restated that Pickett will be the backup for Jalen Hurts this fall.

That isn't what the fanbase wanted to hear as Pickett's struggles have trickled into the preseason games. In Thursday's win over the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh product went 11-of-13 for 67 yards and was sacked four times.

Meanwhile, McKee looked solid out there, going 15-of-19 for 140 yards and zero sacks. Throughout camp, McKee appeared to be the better of the two signal callers but that clearly doesn't mean too much to Sirianni and the Eagles.

They sent a third-rounder and two seventh-rounders to Pittsburgh in exchange for Pickett. They don't want to give up on their investment already so the Eagles are going to make him the backup.

That may not be the right call but if everything goes right in 2024, Pickett won't have to play a meaningful snap for the Birds. But he does have too, well good luck Philadelphia.
