It was a frustrating Sunday afternoon for Eagles fans. Even though Philadelphia was able to escape with the 15-12 win in New Orleans without their two star wide receivers, the fans were not particularly happy about the process. The biggest point of criticism was head coach Nick Sirianni and his questionable playcalling.

The most controversial decision by Sirianni came at the end of the first half. With just 14 seconds left until halftime and the Eagles down 3-0, Sirianni decided to go for it on fourth-and-one. After handing the ball to Saquon Barkley instead of a tush push, the Eagles were stopped short of a first down.

What was so incomprehensible about this call was the fact that the Eagles likely would have had one shot at the end zone even if Barkley got the first down. They still would have been outside the 10-yard line. They likely would have had to kick a field goal anyway. The benefit of going for it was significantly outweighed by the risk of going into the locker room 3-0.

Even though Eagles fans were baffled by this decision, Nick Sirianni continued to defend it after the game. Immediately following the win, he took responsibility and said he would get better from it. On Monday, he doubled down on defending his approach.

Eagles News: Nick Sirianni Defends Controversial Game Management Approach

Sirianni said that he doesn't want to keep explaining his fourth-down philosophy every time he goes for it. He added that he does what he does because he thinks that's what is best for the team at the time.

And that is the concerning part for Eagles fans. Sirianni doesn't think that there is anything wrong with his approach. The fact that he thought going for it with 14 seconds left before halftime at the opponent's 15-yard line gave his team the best chance to win is certainly worrisome. This was especially mind-blowing in a game where the Eagles were struggling to score without A.J. Brown.

Plus, this wasn't the first time Sirianni made questionable calls just this season. Only a week ago, the Eagles suffered an epic collapse against the Falcons where they failed to execute in the final few minutes of the game. If these issues continue, Sirianni will find himself in deep trouble with Philadelphia fans.
