Whatever you call the Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback sneak play, a.k.a. the "Tush Push" or "Brotherly Shove," it's certainly controversial. Fans from every side are split on the issue, with some calling for it to be outlawed, while others say it's just within the rules.

However, the NFL itself now appears to have entered the debate, but on the wrong side.

Eagles center Jason Kelce revealed on his podcast that the league office sent the team a warning over its "Brotherly Shove" play in overtime last week. The NFL said Landon Dickerson was lined up in the neutral zone, which should have drawn a penalty.

However, Kelce claims the league confused Dickerson's hand with his, making their warning incorrect. The offensive lineman also stated that Washington Commanders D-lineman Daron Payne was putting his hand under the ball when Kelce was snapping, which should've been called for a flag.

It looks like the debate over this play from Sunday's contest isn't going away anytime soon. It's certainly intriguing that the league office spoke up, which shows the NFL is putting this variation of the QB sneak under the microscope.

However, the fact that their findings were actually wrong could take some pressure off of Philly's back. The league also missing clear penalties from the Commanders' defense should make them even more embarrassed as well.

Regardless, it's clear the Eagles will have to keep defending themselves (from both outsiders and their own league office) despite operating within the NFL's rules on this matter.
