The Philadelphia Eagles were making big moves throughout the offseason. After a disappointing end to the 2023 season, the Eagles decided to be assertive to improve the roster.

The Eagles made some splashy signings in free agency with the additions of Saquon Barkley, Bryce Huff, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and Devin White.

They also took some dart throws for depth players who struggled on the field but have the potential to bounce back in the right situation. Mekhi Becton is the exact type of player that fits that mold and he seems very happy since joining the Eagles.

Eagles News: Mekhi Becton Is Happy in Philadelphia

Even though Becton has been a part of the team for only two months, he seems to be in a better place.

"I feel happier for sure. I'm happier here, having a great time here. Everybody is like a big family here."

In April, Becton signed a one-year deal worth up to $5.5 million after an up-and-down stint with the New York Jets. He suffered season-ending knee injuries both in 2021 and 2022 before making his way back onto the field in 2023.

Despite getting on the gridiron last season, he struggled mightily. He was tied for first in sacks allowed (12) and second in penalties (18). In addition, he logged a 53.2 overall grade according to PFF.

Now that he joined Philly, he doesn't need to be thrust into the starting lineup immediately. The Louisville product has brute strength and has shown glimpses of dominance in the NFL. He can focus on continuing to develop and sharpen his tools.

There are a bunch of quality veterans and coaches around that Becton can learn from and he's looking to take advantage.

"I got Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata in the same room. Those are two guys I look up to. They're great players. I've got Coach Stout. Then we've got a great team here with Jalen Hurts, Saquon [Barkley], A.J. [Brown] just seeing all the firepower on this team, it just made sense," Becton said.

Although it has been a short time, Becton is in a better place with the Eagles.
