The NFL is currently in a whirlwind following Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. Hundreds of players being cut means that teams are frantically attempting to pick up some of the released individuals to help with their Super Bowl aspirations.

While it's fun to track who the Philadelphia Eagles are eyeing, it's also entertaining to check in on the franchise's former players. Several ex-Eagles have already found new teams now that Tuesday's deadline is in the rearview, including one former fan-favorite rusher.

Eagles News: Pittsburgh Steelers to Sign RB Boston Scott

A source close to NFL insider Mike Garafolo indicates that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to sign ex-Eagles running back Boston Scott. The veteran rusher is set to return to Pennsylvania after signing with the LA Rams earlier this offseason.

After a solid career at Louisiana Tech, Scott was drafted 201st overall by the New Orleans Saints in 2018. The former All-Conference USA RB's time with the Saints ended when they waived him ahead of his rookie campaign, which allowed the Eagles to sign him off their practice squad.

Scott went on to become a solid complimentary back across his six seasons with the Eagles. He suited up for a total of 75 games (12 starts), converting 302 carries into 1,295 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He was also a reliable pass-catcher, hauling in 71 of his 90 targets for 566 receiving yards and another TD.

After signing with the Rams nearly six months ago, Scott posted an emotional goodbye letter to Eagles fans on social media. He thanked fans for their support and ownership for taking a chance on him, further cementing the love that Philadelphia has for him.

Time will tell how joining the Steelers will impact Scott's career. Najee Harris, Jaylen Warren, and Cordarrelle Patterson are all ahead of him on the depth chart. In other words, it may take an injury for the ex-Tiger to earn some playing time.

Fortunately, Philly fans will have an opportunity to see Scott this season.

After all, the Eagles are set to host the Steelers on Dec. 15 for a Week 15 showdown at Lincoln Financial Field. Even though that game isn't for nearly four months, DraftKings Sportsbook currently has Philadelphia pegged as the 4.5-point home favorite over Pittsburgh.
