Eagles Cut Veteran Whose NFL Career May Now Be Over
The 2024 regular season is right around the corner! Eagle fans are clamoring to see the new-look team on the field but they'll have to wait a little bit longer.
Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. ET is the deadline for all 32 teams in the NFL to get the roster down to 53 players. The Eagles started getting the ball rolling on that accord and let go of a draft bust on cutdown day.
Eagles News: Philadelphia Released John Ross
According to Josina Anderson, the Eagles released wide receiver John Ross. The 28-year-old signed a one-year deal back in May after a successful tryout during rookie minicamp.
He was given training camp and preseason to make an impact on the team but he failed to do so. During the preseason, he finished with four receptions for 37 yards.
Ross retired from the NFL last July when he was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs but he decided to make return.
Although he attempted to come back, it looks like his NFL return will not take that next step. In five NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants, Ross logged 62 receptions, 957 yards, and 11 touchdowns.
Back in 2017, Ross caught the attention of the NFL world when he ran a 4.22 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine. Despite all the hype, Ross has failed to live up to the expectations and it appears his time in the NFL may be over.
The Eagles have one of the most loaded wide receiver rooms in the league. Philly has A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Ainias Smith, and Johnny Wilson in that room. It left very little room for error and Ross didn't make the cut.
