Kenny Pickett Makes First Public Comments Amid Eagles Camp Struggles
The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the most aggressive teams this offseason. That's the kind of offseason you wanted from your team if you're a Philly fan.
Instead of staying pat, they decided to find different outlets to improve the team through the free agency, the NFL Draft, and the trade market.
One of their acquisitions was quarterback Kenny Pickett, who they traded for in March. Now that they are in training camp, reports have been circulating that Pickett was struggling.
On Aug. 6, he made his first public comments discussing the Eagles QB room.
Eagles News: Kenny Pickett Praises QB Room
Quarterback Tanner McKee has had a great offseason thus far and has gained some trust from the coaching staff. He was seen getting second-team reps in Sunday's practice and Pickett was bumped down to the third team.
Now on Tuesday, Pickett talked about McKee, calling him a "really smart player" before raving about QB room.
"It's a lot of fun to be part of a QB room that likes to enjoy it every day. I think every guy loves being in that room and we're all having fun pushing each other."
- Kenny Pickett
This is a great approach for Pickett to take. He knew nothing was going to be handed to him in Philly and would have to earn everything on the field, especially after two lackluster seasons with the Steelers.
Giving props to Jalen Hurts, Will Grier, and McKee is the smart stance. Now Pickett needs to elevate his play to lock down the QB2 role and the preseason will be vital in that.
And it all begins on Aug. 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.
