It's not smooth sailing over in Philadelphia this week. After starting the 2024 campaign off with a great win over the Green Bay Packers, the Eagles weren't able to continue the positive momentum in Week 2.

Instead, the Eagles lost to the Atlanta Falcons 22-21 on Monday Night Football. The Eagles weren't able to defend their home turf but instead lost in dramatic fashion.

Defensive tackle Jordan Davis was called out by an Eagle legend before the game but failed to answer the call.

Eagles News: Fletcher Cox Called Out Philadelphia’s Run Defense Ahead of Week 2

According to Zach Berman of PHLY, ex-Eagle Fletcher Cox wasn't happy with the run defense and reached out to Davis in an effort to challenge him.

"I hope it's Jordan (Davis) doing it — fixing the running game and taking control of that. Because 7.8 yards per carry is unacceptable, let's be honest. We're in Philly, we're known for stopping the run. ...Hopefully the guys realize what they did last week. I'm excited for them. I texted a couple of the guys, I challenged them. We'll see."

The Eagles have struggled immensely to slow down the run in the first two games, allowing 150-plus yards in both contests. In the loss to the Falcons, Philadelphia gave up 152 yards with 5.4 yards per rush. Now they are ranked 25th in the NFL in run defense (157.5).

Davis was brought in to be a run-stuffer along the interior but has failed to do so. The Georgia product stands at 6'6 and weighs 336 pounds but doesn't make his presence felt. This season, he only has two total tackles with zero tackles for loss.

Over 32 games with the Eagles, Davis only has THREE career tackles for loss. That isn't anywhere good enough for a player who was selected in the first round.

Philadelphia is currently giving up 6.4 yards per carry, which is the worst in the league. Cox is right in his statement. That is unacceptable and the Eagles need to find a way to fix it.

If not, it'll be a long season for the Birds.
