The Philadelphia Eagles were one of the most active teams over the offseason. After having a disappointing ending to the 2023 campaign, the Eagles added a bunch of players to the roster.

The additions came on both sides of the ball but the moves made James Bradberry's spot on the team shaky.

In April's draft, Philly drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to bolster the secondary. They also re-signed Avonte Maddox and have Isaiah Rodgers coming back from suspension. You can't forget about Darius Slay, who is the No. 1 corner on the team.

That doesn't leave a lot of room for Bradberry and he reveals who was behind his move to safety.

Eagles News: James Bradberry Said Move to Safety Was His Idea

When speaking to reporters on July 27, Bradberry said the move from corner to safety was his idea. He was asked Why and he responded, "Why not?".

From Bradberry's perspective, this was his best chance of getting on the field. Last season at corner, he struggled immensely. Per PFF, he finished with a 56.6 overall grade, had a 108.6 passer rating allowed, and gave up 12.3 yards per reception.

Those performances led to Howie Roseman aggressively improving the secondary. Now the Samford product is looking to find a different way to stick onto the roster. He has a $4.3 million cap hit for the 2024 campaign per Spotrac.

A lot of cornerbacks have made the transition to safety in their careers and Bradberry looks to be the next. Regardless, he has an uphill climb to make the 53-man roster with Reed Blankenship, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Sydney Brown ahead of him. Brown is still rehabbing his way back from a torn ACL but once he's healthy, he'll have a spot on rotation.

As for Bradberry, he is finding any way to stay on the team but still has his work cut out for him.
