Jalen Carter's Latest Injury Update is Huge News for Eagles
By Tyler Maher
The Philadelphia Eagles have a big divisional game coming up against the Dallas Cowboys this weekend, and they're going to need all hands on deck if they want to fend off the Cowboys and improve to 8-1.
That includes rookie defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who suffered a back injury during Sunday's 38-31 win over the Washington Commanders. Fortunately, the Eagles received an encouraging update about his Week 9 status on Monday.
Jalen Carter Injury Update
Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Monday that Carter received good news from his MRI and could be able to play on Sunday.
This backs up what head coach Nick Sirianni said earlier in the day about Carter's status. Sirianni said that the rookie was feeling better on Monday compared to Sunday and that the team is hoping to get him back out on the field to test his injury and see how it feels.
This is all great news for the 22-year-old first-round pick, who has nearly a full week to recover before Sunday's critical NFC East showdown. It sounds like Philadelphia will ease him back into practice this week and, assuming he responds well and doesn't have any setbacks, he could be able to suit up this weekend.
That would be huge for the Eagles, as Carter has been a force on their defensive line so far. The ninth overall pick has lived up to the hype with 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 14 tackles in his first 7 career games.
Philly fans will want to keep an eye on Carter's status throughout the week, but right now his odds of playing on Sunday look pretty good.
